Local planning roundup
More than 500 new planning applications went in to the Cheshire councils in October. Here’s what was in them for builders and trades.
These are applications FurrowLead picked up from Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, Warrington and Halton councils, submitted between 1 and 31 October 2026. One application can count in more than one trade, so the figures don’t add up to the total.
Of the 22 new-home applications, 6 were for a single house, 11 for 2 to 9 homes, 4 for 10 to 49 homes, and 1 for 50 or more.
Extensions led the way, again. 144 of them, which is good news for small builders. Most need footings, a roof and a full fit-out, so there’s work in each one for several trades.
Lofts were busy. 61 applications for lofts, garages and outbuildings, including bungalow roof lifts where the ridge goes up to make room for bedrooms.
Plenty to knock down. 29 applications involved demolition, often as the first step before new houses.
Town only here. In the app you get the full application and the agent or architect’s business contact details.
