FAQ
Questions builders ask us.
Straight answers about where the leads come from, what’s covered and how billing works.
The leads
Where do the leads come from?
Public council planning registers. FurrowLead checks the councils’ own planning portals every weeknight and collects the new applications in your counties into one feed.
Which days do you scan the councils?
Every council is scanned overnight, Monday to Friday. New applications are in your feed by the next morning, so fresh leads land Tuesday to Saturday, along with a morning digest of your best ones. Councils publish very little at weekends, and Monday night’s scan picks up anything added over the weekend.
Do I get the homeowner’s name and number?
No. Private householders’ names aren’t shown. When you open a lead you get the full application details and the agent or architect’s business contact details. Contact goes through the agent.
Here’s why. Homeowners are private individuals. The council publishes their names so neighbours can comment on the plans, not so firms can market to them. Ringing, texting or emailing a homeowner off a planning register risks breaking UK data protection and marketing rules (UK GDPR and PECR), and it’s you who’d be in the firing line.
The agent or architect is a business, already working for the homeowner, and is usually the one who puts the job out to price. So they’re the right person to call anyway.
What kinds of jobs are included?
14 trade sectors: extensions; loft, garage and outbuildings; small new homes; major new homes; conversions; renovation; groundworks and external works; commercial and retail; care, education and community; hospitality and leisure; agricultural and equestrian; industrial and storage; solar and energy; and demolition. Tree works and signage & lighting are there too if you switch them on.
Can I track what happens to an application?
Yes. Watch any job and you’ll get an email and phone notification when it’s approved, refused, withdrawn or appealed.
Do you estimate what a job’s worth?
Yes, for many jobs. FurrowLead estimates the contract value from the type and size of the work in the application, so the bigger jobs stand out at a glance. It’s a guide to help you decide what to chase, not a quote.
Coverage
Is my area covered?
Yes. FurrowLead scans every council planning authority across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, 376 councils scanned nightly. Pick a county and you get every council in it.
Now and again a council’s planning website goes down or changes. When that happens the app flags that council, so you know why it’s gone quiet, and the next scan catches up on anything it missed.
Try it free for 7 days and see the leads coming through in your counties before you pay a penny.
What happens when a council’s website is down?
Councils occasionally have their planning portals down. When that happens the app flags it, so you know why a council has gone quiet, and it picks up again once the portal is back.
Can I look at a county before I add it?
Yes. Smart Areas lets you preview counties you’re growing into before you add them to your plan.
Using the app
Is there an app?
Yes. Install FurrowLead on your phone and your computer from our Get the app page. It gets its own icon, opens full screen and sends your lead alerts as notifications. There’s no app store to go through, and it updates itself.
What is Smart Areas?
Smart Areas learns from how you use the app, such as what you save, print and mark as quoted, and puts similar jobs nearer the top of your feed. It also lets you preview counties you’re thinking of expanding into.
Can I keep track of jobs I’ve priced?
Yes. The pipeline lets you move jobs through new, contacted, quoted, won and lost, with your own notes and quote values.
Can I export my leads?
Yes. Paid plans can export leads to a spreadsheet (CSV). You can also print a lead to take on site.
Can my office use it too?
Yes. The Team plan covers up to 5 people for £35 a month on top of your counties, each with their own login and one shared pipeline. Team members can be added once your plan is paid for, not during the free trial. Need more than 5? Ask about a Company plan. Each login works on one phone and one computer at a time.
Can I change my counties later?
Yes. Add or remove counties from the app whenever you like, and your bill updates to match. Hide single councils you don’t work in, or set how far you’ll travel from your yard, without changing your plan.
Trial and billing
How does the free trial work?
You get 7 days free with no card needed. Pick up to 3 counties and your trades and see real leads straight away. Whole UK and the premium feeds (tenders and premises licences) unlock once you subscribe, and you can subscribe at any point during the trial.
What happens when my trial ends?
Pick a plan to carry on. Everything you saved, contacted and quoted during the trial stays in your account, waiting for you. If you don’t carry on, you won’t be charged anything.
How much does it cost?
Your first county is £29 a month and each extra county is £6 a month. Whole UK is £99 a month. Pay yearly and you get two months free. See the pricing page for details and optional add-ons.
Can I cancel?
Yes, any time. There’s no contract. Monthly plans run to the end of the month you’ve paid for; yearly plans run to the end of the year.
Can I pay yearly?
Yes. Pay for the year up front and it costs ten months instead of twelve, so two months are free. One county is £290 a year instead of £348. Whole UK is £990 a year instead of £1,188.
How do I pay?
By card, through Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and we never see or store them. You can update your card, change your plan or cancel from the app.
Do you have discount codes?
Now and then, for trade events and partners. If you’ve been given one, enter it in the “Add promotion code” box when you pay.
About FurrowLead
Who’s behind FurrowLead?
FurrowLead is run by FurrowLead Ltd, a UK company registered in England and Wales. We’re registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and fully insured. Our company and ICO numbers are at the bottom of every page.
Is my data safe?
Yes. We never sell or share your details. Payments go through Stripe, so we never hold your card details. You can download your data or delete your account from Settings at any time. Read more on our Privacy & trust page.
Is it legal to use planning data like this?
Yes. Planning registers are public by law, so anyone can see who’s applied for what. FurrowLead collects them into one place for you. We hold back private householders’ names and give you the agent or architect’s business details instead, which keeps you on the right side of the marketing rules.
How do I make a complaint?
Use the helpdesk on our Contact page and choose “A complaint”. It goes straight to a person, you get a reference number, and we’ll reply by email.
